We are looking for a highly qualified Legal Counsel to assist in providing various day-to-day legal assistance to multiple operating subsidiaries with emphasis on drafting construction contracts. The successful candidate will join the Colas USA legal department located in Morristown, NJ.
" Drafting road construction contracts (public and private)
" Drafting aggregate extraction and supply agreements
" Providing accurate and timely counsel to business executives on a variety of legal topics (construction defects, liens, change orders, project bidding, bonds, employment matters, acquisitions, environmental issues, regulatory issues, and general legal advice)
" Drafting corporate minutes and general corporate housekeeping
" Researching and evaluating risk factors for construction business decisions and operations
" Applying effective risk management techniques and offering proactive advice on various legal issues
" Communicating effectively and negotiating with external parties (subcontractors, suppliers, customers, regulators, public authorities)
" Coordinating with outside counsel on acquisitions, litigation, and environmental matters
" Providing legal counsel with integrity and a high ethical standard
" Maintaining current knowledge of changes in legislation and regulations affecting our industry
" Must have a law degree from an accredited law school and active license to practice law
" Must have between 4 to 7 years of experience as an in-house attorney with a construction company or as an attorney with a private law firm handling legal work in the construction industry
" Must possess strong drafting, organizational, communication and analytical skills
" Must have ability to multitask and work independently and as a member of a group
