We have been exclusively engaged by our client, a prestigious plaintiff’s firm with a national trial practice, to identify a litigator with 5+ years of experience for its Pittsburgh office. This is an outstanding opportunity to be a part of the firm’s thriving regional personal injury practice. Candidates must have substantive civil litigation experience that includes taking/defending depositions, appearing in court for motions practice and negotiating settlements. Experience on the plaintiff’s side would be beneficial, but is not required, as our client will consider defense attorneys who have an earnest desire to shift their practice to the plaintiff’s side and have a demonstrated understanding of what that entails.
This position requires someone who can handle cases autonomously, but who can also work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment with carefully developed processes and procedures in place. It is imperative that this litigator is a highly motivated self-starter who has excellent judgment, good discretion and strong decision-making and problem-solving skills. The person who will excel in this role is very bright and can readily assimilate large amounts of information and develop creative solutions that turn roadblocks into opportunities for his/her clients. Emotional intelligence, maturity and empathy are necessary as well. This progressive firm uses a substantive amount of technology to service its large client base, so tech-savvy candidates are ideal.
This attorney will have responsibility for a large caseload and will handle all matters from inception through settlement/trial including: educating potential clients on the capabilities of the firm; working directly with clients, investigators and support staff to investigate the cases; preparing and filing the cases; drafting pleadings; drafting, filing and arguing motions; taking and defending depositions; negotiating settlements with adjusters and defense counsel; and representing clients in meditations, arbitrations and potentially trials. Candidates must be currently licensed in Pennsylvania. Additional licensure in West Virginia would be beneficial but is not required.
This is a fantastic opportunity to be trained by top plaintiff’s attorneys and be part of a dynamic, progressive and collegial environment. Competitive compensation (that greatly rewards highly motivated attorneys) and an attractive benefits package are included.
